Role: Product Design Team Lead
As the Product Design Team Lead, I stepped into both design and strategic product leadership during a period without a VP of Product. My contributions included:
Initiating the "Future of Editor" project to rethink the role of Gen AI in photo editing.
Leading workshops and defining a strategy for the app's redesign.
Leading and supporting the Photoleap and Videoleap design teams, implementing team processes like 1:1s, feedback loops, planning workshops, and cross-team collaboration to foster a motivated design culture.
Photoleap's growing feature set made the app's interface complex and less intuitive, hampering user engagement and complicating navigation. There was also a need to explore the impact and role of Generative AI in photo editing, while improving app's overall usability.
App Redesign:
Redesigned the home screen architecture to streamline navigation and improve engagement.
Conducted iterative data-driven experiments to refine layouts and component designs.
AI Generate & Future of Editor
Conducted collaborative workshops to explore the potential of Generative AI.
Helped define a strategic vision and roadmap for AI-driven photo editing features.
Team Processes:
Established regular 1:1s and team feedback sessions to improve communication and collaboration.
Introduced a design-led quarterly planning process to align product and design goals, and weekly design reviews.
App Redesign:
Positioned "AI Generate" as the most popular feature in the app.
Boosted home screen engagement by 2% and increased exports per user by 4%.
AI Generate
Delivered a strategic vision for rebuilding Photoleap's editor with a Generative AI focus, defining novel interaction paradigms.
Identified and shipped shorter term tangible improvements to current editor functionality.
Future of Editor:
Delivered a strategic vision for rebuilding Photoleap's editor with a Generative AI focus, defining novel interaction paradigms.
Identified and shipped shorter term tangible improvements to current editor functionality.
Team Processes:
Improved team morale and efficiency through new processes and frameworks.
Boosted communication and collaboration between cross-functional teams.
Increased visibility of design work progress and outcomes for key stakeholders.
